Get a torch and look up insde the chimney. Look for two straight or relatively parallel walls where the Chimney Balloon will fit once inflated. You’ll find these somewhere between one and two feet up inside the chimney. Alternatively if you can reach the flue (circular hole) easily measure the diameter and choose a circular balloon.

How to fit a Chimney Balloon?
Open package and unroll Chimney Balloon. Partially inflate by blowing into it. Then hold the balloon up into the chimney where you want it to rest. Then inflate fully by blowing into it again until you find resistance. This means the balloon has filled the opening. Close the tap and push the handle gently up into the balloon to ensure it is firmly in place. Remove inflation tube/accessories and store for later use.

There is a red remnder tag supplied with every Chimney Balloon which you should put in a highly visible place somewhere in or around your fireplce. This will alert you to the fact that your Chimney Balloon is still installed and shoud be removed before you light your fire.
What is a chimney balloon made out of?
They’re made of a treble layer of LLDPF, EVOH or PVdc. The outside layer is tear resistant with the middle layer being an air barrier and the inside layer heat shrinkable. The handle is made from a fire retarded plastic.
Can I use a Chimney Balloon if I have a gas fire appliance?
Yes, as long as there is a big enough distance between the flame from the fire and where the Chimney Balloon is installed.
How do I inflate the Chimney Balloon?
